GST Registration

All business entities and individual buying or selling goods or providing services, whose annual turnover is more than 40 Lakhs (10 lakh for special category states of India) are required to compulsorily  register for Goods and Service Tax. There are various other scenarios where it is mandatory for a business to register for GST irrespective of annual turnover. Businesses without GST will not be able to collect GST from their customers, neither they will be able to claim input tax credit for what they have been charged from their providers.

Who needs to register for GST:

Registration under the GST Act is mandatory if your aggregate annual PAN-based turnover exceeds INR 20,00,000 (Rupees Twenty Lakhs) however the threshold for registration is INR 10,00,000 (Rupees Ten Lakhs) if you have a place of business in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, Tripura, or Uttarakhand.

Documents required kindly add/remove:

  • PAN of the individual or entity.
  • Cancelled cheque or bank statement.
  • Kindly remove the proof of bank account as we have already asked the same document. 
  • Board resolution authorising the person for registration .

Documents required For GST registration by Individual:

  • Input Service Distributor
  • TDS/TCS Deductor
  • E-commerce Operator
  • An online data access and retrieval service provider

Persons Not Liable to get registered are:

  • Any person engaged exclusively in the business of supplying goods and/or services that are not liable to tax or are wholly exempt from tax under this Act;
  • An agriculturist, for the purpose of agriculture.

Documents required:

  • PAN and ID of the individual
  • Bank Statement- copy of the cancelled cheque or bank statement
  • Office Document- For Registered office address, provide copy of electricity bill/landline bill/water bill. Rent agreement is to be provided, if the premise is rented.
  • NOC- No Objection Certificate from the owner of the Registered Office Premise
  • Photograph- A passport size photograph of the proprietor or the individual is needed.
  • Proof of Bank Account- Copy of the First page of passbook/ opening page of passbook in the name of the individual/Proprietorship Concern having a/c Number, Name of a/c Holder, MICR, IFSC and branch details.
  • Address Proof- Address Proof for Principal/Additional Place of Business
  • DSC- Digital Signature Certificate of the Individual is required. (or phone number linked with aadhar if making registration for Individual)
